Posts: 485 (05/26/09 8:59 PM) Registered User Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Well, T T, you have made some excellent points that I've never thought of, but I will still be debating on whether this is Maddie or not or whether I will be reading UXM or not, right up until and once the former has been revealed, respectively. Just the way I am, lol. One of the reasons for doing so, is that Maddie has already been proven to be a red herring, whether the Red Queen turns out to be her or not, unfortunately, so, from what I gather, myself, the latter won't change much, in any case. Likewise, I would really like it if Jean did return in the next issue, I will just have to reserve judgement until she DOES return (sorry! ><; ), because even the comment from Comics Continuum can be interpreted as a step towards an action but not actually taking it. I do agree, though, that there are numerous signs that she will return soon, if not in 511. I am keeping my fingers crossed for either one of those scenarios and that it happens well (which I think everyone on this board all wishes for).... Me, signing out... temporarily (of course).... Heck in Wizard World Philly '07, Joe Q said that there are no plans to bring Jean back even though Messiah Complex was announced at the same time and the solicit for the issue where Mutant Zero appears on the front cover was already revealed. What's going on with Jean now is different than the Mutant Zero/Hope situation because writers and editors have been hinting at Jean's return for a while even before these hints were revealed.

I've been avoiding you guys (sorry, I hate spoilers) cuz my subscription to Marvel keeps coming to me more than 18 days late!!! I just got it yesterday (marvel cus. rep says "too bad" so after this I'm not subscibing any more. I guess Amazon is free to take my $$$ now). A few things: 1. Are we sure this is her. When I read it, I thought it was, and still do. But when my brother read it he didn't even fathom the idea it was her. He thought it was all part of Madleyne's plan etc. (he's a burnout). He has since jumped on the bandwagon and agrees with me...but now he has me scared that maybe this isn't her and is all part of the Sisterhood's plan (Marvel has screwed me one too many times it seems). Not that I believe that, but a lil' confirmation would be really nice. 2. When Scott was in "hell" who was that guy next to Banshee. I could tell who was there: Jean, Madelyne/Goblyn Queen, Banshee, Guy-I-don't-know (Top Row) Sophie and Esme Cukoo (loved that!), Thunderbird I (Bottom Row). Who was the guy next to Banshee? Would've loved for Nate Grey to be there. 3. I have thoroughly enjoyed this arc (and I love Greg Land. I can see why people don't but I really like him. Don't bash me. plz? lol) and would love the Sisterhood to be villains in the X-Men's Rogue gallery. Keep Madelyne as a villain... I love it. Maybe even recruit more...Selene, Sage (maybe?)... 4. I would also like a falshback issue as to how Madelyne came back and how she snatched Betsy from Exiles. Maybe next issue? 5.Wouldn't it be cool if Madelyne joined the Dark X-Men as their Jean-counterpart. I know its not gonna happen but would be sweet. Maybe her and Mimic or Pointer would hook up. All three are nuts to the bone. 6. As whitewing said (I think) I don't think Jean's coming back this way (although I'm desperate. It would give me such pleasure even the anticipation to read the next week). I think maybe in #511 we'll get confirming evidence that she'll be back and then maybe (my thought anyway) she'll be back in the 3rd part of the Messiah trilogy (fingers crossed). 7. A quick Warsong question: Are the Stepford Cockoos clones or ACTUAL daughters of Emma. I could've sworn that they were her daughters. And if they are, who da daddy? Is it Sublime? 8. Lastly, like someone else wrote, we should be happy that this may well be in fact Jean's first appearance in 5-6 years. AND her first in a major book since Xorneto gave her that stroke. Hell. Yeah Sorry about this rant. I don't think I've ever written so much before but this got me all sorts of hyped! Does anybody know when part 3 of the Messiah Trilogy comes out? TGIF.

After all, not even twins are completely identical (i.e. they do have different fingerprints) and clones would just be a closer version of twins, so to speak. Huge Jean fan, huge Scott/Jean fan, absolutely can't wait for Jean to return and ecstatic that we are getting some major hints. I personally do not think she will be back next issue but like someone else said, I think next issue could confirm that she is indeed returning, not just the hints and teases we've been getting. I was thinking, maybe Scott and Emma seemingly on the verge of a break up (finally...!!) is in preparation for Jean's eventual return. Maybe they want Scott to be single when she comes back, to avoid another insta-love triangle. I could definitely do without Emma whining about Scott leaving her for Jean. Even if they don't get back together (which I'm actually ok with), I really just want the S/E thing over with. I can't believe they've been together for so long. It's unfathomable. I have never been an Emma fan, but, even if I was, I would never want her with Scott. Because she is just bad for him. However, I don't want this to happen simply because she wasn't really in love with him or because she has 'fallen out of love' with him. ^^;

They were/are together because they could fulfill something in each other at the time, but when it's over, it's over, that's just life shrugs. I really can't wait to see how Jean reacts to the "new" Scott, without the clingy girlfriend muddling things. I absolutely DO NOT want to see Scott "choose" between them again. Let him end things with Emma because it's just not working out anymore, not because Jean's coming back. When she comes back and they can work things out and get back together, great, if not, that's cool too. Thought I do think they will end up together eventually, if not right away. Anyway, maybe Marvel is on the same track as me and the Scott/Emma problems are connected to Jean's return too. Setting various things in motion, ya know? I can't really comment on your post because you totally said it for me. I agree with everything you said and I like Greg Land too. I also wondered who the mystery guy was. Hard to tell as he is not in costume. Could be Cypher (Doug Ramsey) with miscolored hair but Nate Grey is a more likely candidate. Given that the guy is not in costume, he could even represent one of the multiple innocent bystander body count racked up by the X-Men, or one of the numerous New X-Men ( I have never bothered to follow that title) . Are the Cuckoos Emma's daughters or clones? Depends on how you interpret it. According to Marvelwiki http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Emma_Frost_(Earth-616) After following the Stepford Cuckoos, including the resurrected Sophie and Esme, to The World, Emma Frost discovered that the Cuckoos and hundreds of others had been cloned from her eggs. Jean could easily be written out of the equation, again, if another writer that comes along doesn't like her (blasphemy!), then, because she was just a stopgap, in that case. Having said that, though, I have come to agree with many posters on this board that Jean needs to be away from the X-Men and Scott for, at least, awhile before returning. I have also come to believe that, even if Jean does stay apart from Scott and the X-men for the rest of her history (perhaps in Guardians of the Galaxy? Hint, hint.... Lol), I will accept that as long as Emma is out of the picture, but for good reasons of her own, other than the ones I've already listed. Anyways, I would like to welcome you, officially, to the board, too, Christine!

When Emma called out Maddie, jean replies with "Not quite, but I get that alot", which leads me to believe in\ts Jean. She also sets her free so I don't think Maddie would have wanted to do that. My questions is why doesn't Emma bring up that interaction. You would think that something like that would have been at least metioned. And what does Jean mean by "...but I get that alot"? Has she been in contact with anyone else? Who were the others that confused her with Maddie? I really want the next issue to be Jean coming back, but after reading uncanny #510, I highly doubt it will be Jean, still keeping my fingers crossed though And on a different note, I'm actually more of a Jean/Wolverine fan. I know I'm a loner on that, but IMO they bring out the best of each other, while Jean/Scott always held each other back in one way or another. Can't wait for the next issue ozzie

Of course it was her!! It never even crossed my mind that is was a trick by Maddie(????!????) Emma's embarrassment at being rescued (particularly by Jean!), the fact that she's in the WHR, the fact that the gorgeous red head is using the Phoenix force to break the shackles of Martinique's trap, all point to Jean. Yes, Fraction didn't add one of his "fraptions: JEAN GREY - DEAD,NOT DEAD" but it all points to Jean observing what is going on & making sure that things do not go smoothly for Maddie/Red Queen's plans. I like the misty/surreal atmosphere to that scene. I really don't understand why some people think it's Maddie tricking Emma. Why would Maddie try & stop her own schemes?????

Although, no, you're not alone in that. I know there are several other members who would rather see Jean with Wolverine than vice versa. I really believe that Jean and Scott bring out the best in each other. It's just that with Scott and Jean it's more of a slow exposure than an immediate one as it is with Wolverine and Jean, which isn't always a good thing, especially considering who Jean is. This is one of the reasons why, even though I LOVE the pairing, I think Jean and Logan would eventually burn out. @Charybdis: The only one who ever said that they thought this was someone else other than Jean, was me. On this board, anyways. But I never said it was Maddie. I thought it was Lady Mastermind impersonating Maddie. There are actually two reasons why this could be so. Lady Mastermind is possibly not completely loyal to Maddie (which is plausible) or Emma managed to break free on her own somehow which had nothing to do with any external aid because the sequence that we saw previous to that was simply LM trying to confuse Emma in some way or manner.

All the "Emma is awesome, Jean should stay dead" posts on some other forums were making me a bit nauseous. I have to say, for years and years the Logan/Jean pairing was atrocious to me. I was such a devoted S/J fan that the idea that she had this pull towards someone else just made me crazy. However, after all that's happened in the last several years, and the douchebaggery Scott pulled, I'm at the point where I would welcome an L/J pairing upon Jean's return. However, like Scott/Emma, it's not something I see lasting very long. That being said, to debate the merits of the two couplings, I have to say it's a bit unfair to compare the two. Scott and Jean had a very serious, long term relationship and went through a lot together, while Logan and Jean were never more than a "what if". I think it's easier to sing the praises of a hypothetical couple that has never had to go through what Scott and Jean have had to go through - and survived. Logan gets to pop in once in a while, have a heart to heart with Jean and somehow to people that "proves" he's a better match for her. But I feel like that's discounting the fact that Scott was there with her, every minute in her head, and had been for decades. There's just no comparison between the two. I feel like Logan and Jean are more kindred spirits in that they are similar and can sympathize with each other, but I feel that Scott and Jean are soulmates, no question. It's freaking Marvel. This is the same company that put out a Phoenix teaser image with "Coming Soon?" and it ended up being a cover to a book that was unrelated to the comic inside. This is the same company that hinted time and time again that Mutant 0 was a well established mutant, with an unstable personality/powers, with RED hair that chilled herself out in a WHITE room and then "leaked" an image with said Mutant with Phoenix powers, only for it to be a trick. And now they're hinting that the Messiah Baby has something or another to do with Jean, and before any of that is sorted out, here comes her first appearance in over 5 years. So yeah, unless its 100% STATED FACT, I won't be tricked again and can certainly see why some people would at least have some suspicion. I think it is Jean, I just want to open up the possibility that this may be a ruse...AGAIN.

I re-read my post & you coul read it as being a bit abrupt (the consequence of typing it in work with your boss hanging around like a bad smell!) What I was attempting to say is that I would like to see the evidence as to why some people think it was a ruse by Red Queen/Maddie/whoever she is!

They teased the return of Captain America a lot too like in Captain America #39 and Secret Invasion. They implied in the comic itself that Captain America in the Skrull ship was the real deal unlike Jean Grey, who just flew around. They were even making fun of Captain America coming back in the Utopia crossover during an X-Men podcast. Yet the rescheduling of Captain America #600 for a major news announcement seems to give evidence that Reborn is about the return of Cap.
