Just to clarify a few things: I don't like Rachel-Phoenix more than Jean-Phoenix but one doesn't cancel the other. If they are both Phoenix, on different teams then I don't see what's the problem? What's wrong about letting other fans enjoy x-men too? It's not like Rachel would replace Jean; Jean is by far more popular and famous. And when I said that the Phoenix is getting too commercialized I meant that I'm SICK of reading or seeing the same story again and again and again and AGAIN. You'd expect someone who calls his title "New" to be more original. The stories no longer revolve around Jean as Phoenix, as a person, but they revolve around "Phoenix" who "lives" in Jean and "cleans" the universe. I don't mind stories with the Phoenix aspect but that is all they do recently, more or less. M's Jean may be uber powerful (actually, she couldn't even fly in space or read Magneto's mind but anyway) she's missing that spark that CC's Jean had, IMO.
Also, Chris did want to use Rachel in x-treme but the editors told him she wasn't available.

As for Revolution, I agree with Omni, the text clearly said that Jean's Phoenix Effect is the "physical manifestation of her powers" (like in the original Phoenix years: Wolverine: "Phoenix-claw! Manifestation of Jean's telekinetic power") and they did refer to her as the original Phoenix up until Joe Q took over as the editor.

Personally, I'm looking forward to X-Men Reloaded because I'm not entirely happy with the current core x-titles (that includes X-Treme, it is good but it used to be better). I wish we had more information
