Hey Guys!

First I want to say hey Phoenyx! :) I guess you really are back. I remember one time I got all excited but you only posted for a few times and departed again. But as I've been browsing now, I see you are posting quite a bit! Coolin' 8)

And shame on you Dave! That poor kid would be traumatized! Then again, you may be traumatized after they egg your house up! :P

For all those international types, or just people in the states who are of a sweeter temperment that is what I grew up with. Around Halloween, and sometimes they began as early as mid-October, kids (HS and under) would buy eggs and throw them at people. So pretty wicked ones were opened and filled, or covered, with shaving cream, or hair removal crea (the old Nair and Neat for women). And yes, they would aim right for people's heads!

I remeber one time in 3rd grade, we couldn't exit the school. Some junior high kids were outside throwing eggs at whoever left. My brother was actually a hero! (really just annoyed having to wait so long ;) ). He used to pick me up from school, and he (being an old high schooler, chased the junior high kids with a friend of his). Of course I would have hoped he would have done that anyway, even if it wasn't in defense of his li' sis. :)
Lots of kids would simply stay home from school on that day, or leave early. I remembered walking to school the day after Halloween and you could see th long trails of dried up egg goop! Ah, the memories :P

Wait, what was the topic? :P Oh yeah, costumes. When i was really little I used to wear those box costumes. But for some reason I only remember being Wonder Woman. Oh, and one year I was just...ugh...scary. I guess I was a witch. I was in the 4th grade, and it was my first foray into making one. The next year I wore a box costume! :D

After that I really only remember them in HS. We used to have contests. And at that time I was really into the macabre of the whole celebration. the first year i was a witch, the next i was frankenstein. My friend went as the bride of, and we won scariest costume. What was scary was getting into that stuff. I wrapped her arms so tight she almost couldn't bend her arms to write!:) Third year i went as...something. Can't remember. Fiurth year I won with scariest costume again. I was darkman. Am I dating myself or what? ;) Silly people kept asking me if I was in a costume. i had bandages on my face, and blood spots. NYers aren't that strange! (hey you be quiet there :P)

In college I was a sexy vampire one year. then i was the Invisible Man (I was working at the time, not in school).

Then I pretty much stopped. I don't celebrate the holiday, but I love dressing up. So i may engage if the party is pretty frivolous or non-Halloween themed. It's a good time of year to have costume parties because of their availability.

This year we had dress up in the office and I reprised my role as Invisible Man (the old one, not Hollow Man). I am not even going into how hot those bandages became as the day wore on (I wore them all day! :o ). But, hey i won the best costume contest and got for my troubles a bottle of Dom Perrignon (sp?) champagne! If anyone would like some, you can bring your glasses forward. well, except for you LG. I've got your 20 oz mug right here! :p

Thanks,
Dini

ps - great topic Han!
