Then if Marriage is such a mockery.... why would it mean so much to so many people.
And just because a few bad apples that give the rest a bad name.
There are 1,000's of people who DO make lasting relationships work.
I respect your opinion Sweet, and everyone elses.
Personally. For me, and with what i was saying, with my opinion, it is true no matter how you dice it or slice it... If two Men or Two women, lived together commited to one another... that is Marriage, but I'm sure you can see where i am coming from with my "It should be called something else"
To me Marriage as defined, doesnt fit me. Just as the word Heterosexual doesn't define me. That just isnt me.
I think it would be so much more special and wonderful if a new word were to be created for the said event of two men or women being commited to each other and have it documented and legally binding.
It is a name game... and i am sad to say that that is what it has come down to. BUT... I don't think we will get anywhere by trying to say two men or two women commiting themselves to each other SHOULD be called "Marriage" as stated (I beleive it IS a marriage of sorts but shouldnt be specifically called that... I think there should be more specification to avoid confusion and conflicts with anyone who would disagree that two men or two women can love one another deeply and forever). Too many people (and even myself to the majority) agree that forcing something on someone is never a good way to go about change.
You say, why make up a new word, that is just selling out. Or you might be saying even if you make a new word its still marriage. All I have to say is this:
If it walks like a duck, quacks like a Duck, its probably a Duck.
But what kind of Duck is it?
Could be a Mallard, a Green Crested, A Emerald Ren?
So yes... in explanation of this... two men or two women getting together for life... is as same as saying thier married... but, we need to get more specific. The more specific we are the less people are going to be Gay Bashing about imposing and changing the original definition of marriage.
I trully think there should be a distinction between Hetero and Homo Marriages. In truth for as much fairness to the Homosexual ones as to the Heterosexual ones.
