I love this type of dialog! Nick--thanks for posting your thoughts on the board. You always provide an intelligent and eloquent thought. I have said before on this post that I refused to live according to someone else's personal beliefs. And while I respect other's faith, I do believe that this is (after all) America...where everyone is supposedly equal. I do want to get married. And I do want it to be considered binding and legal by the American government. Why? Because I shouldn't have to settle for anything less. I was watching the news the other day, it was the day that Massachusetts was having it's big debate on gay marriage. All these conservative religious groups were swarming to the State House...and all got air time to speak their mind. One gentlemen said something to the effect that gay people need to realize that it is because of straight people that they are on this earth...and if everyone was gay that wouldn't be the case. Another young kid said he needed to fight against gay marriage cause he's afraid how it will personally effect his life? Now...what kind of stupidity is that. The point is equal rights for all. Not making everyone gay! I was also very touched because there was a group there with signs that said "Straight Families For Gay Families" and a gentlemen said that he is outraged that his government would considered including discrimination in it's Constitution. And as he pointed out...aren't we fighting a war against a extremist, hateful, and repressive regime?
