It's not that people are arguing for arguement's sake. If Mormons, Muslims, and others see same sex couples, then people who want more than one spouse can rightfully argue who is the state to stop me from having multiple partners?

After all, we have seperation of church and state. We've allowed same sex couples to marry, so who would the state be to draw the line between consenting adults?

I can think of no legal or moral base for permitting same sex couples while denying polygamy or polyandry.

And I can think of no reason to deny polygamy or polyandry.
