Look, guys, gals, please...I know gay marriage doesn't exist in a vacuum. I've already said that. We want to frame our opinions, theories, statements, whatever with proof and with examples from the past and from other sectors of society.

But enough is enough!

The topic is...was...gay marriage.

Not polygamy. Not sexism in the workplace. Not racism. Not effeminancy in men. Not bloody religion, that's for darn sure.

We're supposed to be discussing this topic without getting mired down in a lot of crap...pardon the language...that's been going on since time's start.

It's hypocritical of me. I did bring up the topic. It blossomed into a lively debate with many opinions and stories being shared. But now we're beating our heads against the wall and nothing constructive appears to be coming from it. We're just going around in circles.

I've already e-mailed Nadav that I think maybe it's time to close this topic down because we're just hashing things out that apply to history and periphery and not the subject originally brought up for discussion. Threads take on their own lives, but honestly, this has become excessive. People have called for things to come back into focus, but everything is still far off-center.

In the future, I think I'm going to shy away from "hot button" topics like this because I can't stand the heat. (Yes, I was the one who went in the kitchen and turned on the stove, but now I'm running outside!)

I realize nothing gets done by keeping mute. Discourse and compromise and people aruging are how many social institutions and the like evolve.

Whatever happens, if this thread continues, it goes on without me. I just beg that those of you who continue posting here stick to the subject and not get bogged by the backstories.

Arguement is fine. Arugement for arguement's sake is just frustrating and ultimately wasted time.
