Wow, tough call. It is funny, there are a lot of repeats.

Top Ten (in no particular order)

1. Casablanca- It is a GREAT movie. Just got the chance to see it at our old movie theatre that was rennovated (it's an awesome theatre, with murals on the wallls and balconies and plush red velvet carpet, and these little lites in the ceiling that looks like stars.) Any how, I think it's the greatest love story ever, beatifully shot, interesting plot and subplots, and I love the era. and unrequited love is great. I think what really makes the movie great is the ending- how he chooses the right way over the easy way. A rare concept.

2. Adam's Rib- I love a lot of Katherine's movies, but this was the first one I really fell in love with. Great banter, great chemistry, great at dealing with the sex war.

3. Steel Magnolias- Ok, the women in this movie are a complete mirror of the women in my family. About a small southern town, and my Aunt has diabetes and was not suppost to have childern but did anyways despite doctor's orders.(luckily she is still alive though). My Grandmother always worries too much. But our Dolly Parton character is actually a gay male barber called Paul, but he's every bit as witty and always has the perfect lines. And he's got long blonde hair. Great acting, and It never fails, everytime I watch it it makes me laugh out loud and cry. Any movie that does that deserves to make my list.

4. The Scent of Green Papaya- Great Vietnamese film about a curious girl growing up. Very slow, but very funny and is a great portrait of human nature.

5. English Patient- Oh my goodness, this movie could not have been put together any better, the way the story unfolds is just INCREDIBLE. To me, it is the closet any one has ever gotten to recreating the feeling that Casablanca. It is profound, beatifully shot, the acting is great. Again, I love this wwII era. and the love scenes were incredibly hot. There are several layers to the movie, and I love what it says about ownership (on several layers, how we feel we own the earth, how we feel we belong to a country, how we feel like we belong to one another husband/wife. etc etc)

6 GodFather (I and II. Esp. II)
Just really well put together, again, great acting.

7. Last of the Mohicans- Maybe it's just my Indian hertiage coming out, but I am so drawn to the mountains it was shot in. The soundtrack and scenery are great, and again, great love scene (ok, so I'm a romantic, sue me). I like peroid pieces, and this one is close to the top of the list.

8. Braveheart- I'm a sucker for kilts. No, I know it's not entirely historically accurate, but he evoked such emotion. And the music was great. and the costumes, I loved the Princesses dresses.

9. Ridicule- Great French film about the court of Louis. VERY witty.

10. Gone with the Wind (You didn't think I would leave it out, did you?)

My Indulgences

1. Clue- God, I love this movie.
2. Monty Python and the Holy Grail (my sister and I use to act out parts in front of the video camera. My favorite was the monks
3. Clueless- I have to give a nod to the movie that pretty much defined my generation. It pretty much dictated my highschool wardrobe (well, it and Buffy), plaid short skirts, oxford shirts untucked with sweater vests and over the knee socks with mary janes. oh, and fluffy pens and mini back packs. And it really help make the mini tee a classic.
4. Cruel Intentions - It's so evil, I can't help myself.
(probably the movie you were talking about with "bitter sweet symphony" at the end)
5. Jane Austen movies...esp. "Emma" and "Sense and Sensiblity"
6. War of the Roses
7. A League of their Own
8. Labyrinth (dude, every one loves this movie! It is great. I always wanted that dress she wore in the dream scene. great sequence. )
9. When Harry Met Sally (over watched, but still, it articulates some great things about men and women and relationships.)
10. Pretty Woman (Love the shopping scene. "You work on commision, right? Big mistake. Big HUGE mistake. I have to go shopping now." )

I also like Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Star Wars trilology, Bond movies, just about every romantic comedy by Julia Roberts and Meg Ryan and all disney animated films made after Snow White and before Hunchback. Saving Private Ryan and ChinaTown and LA confidential are all honorable mentions.
