To follow up on that statement, from the little I know on the subject, legal rights attach at birth. I believe it was Missouri that had a law that attached legal rights at conception. Then when a man who was 20 years old and 6 months got in trouble for underage drinking, and he tried to get off saying he was 21 in terms when the laws started applying to him. As you can imagine, that argument didn't fly.

There was another case of a pregnant woman in jail and her lawyer tried to get her out because the fetus/embryo/baby was being imprisoned even though it had committed no crime. That didn't work either. So there is legal precident that rights don't take affect until birth.
