I like Rachel!

After Jean's first death back in the eighties, as far as Phoenix went, Rachel was IT, and the kid did pretty good, as far as I'm concerned. Rachel even did something that her mama didn't: while she was part of the Excalibur team for a time Rachel deliberately dialed the Phoenix Force all the way down so that her memory could return. In other words, she didn't use the Phoenix, just her own natural abilities.

I didn't like Rachel being chummy with Emma Frost, and, as always, Rachel's character depended on who was writing her--come to think of it, just like Jean! I hated the Grey's End storyline, and those last few panels where Rachel is standing in front of the graves of her entire extended family and she's thinking that she was not the Phoenix, but the Shi'ar will wish that she was after she gets through with them...that just left a foul taste in my mouth.

Rachel, honey, you ARE the Phoenix, have been, always will be! Why was'nt I would have liked it a lot better if that energy signature around her body in the last panel had been drawn in a vaguely bird-like shape. Another thing: is this Grey's End storyline gonna be like that Neo storyline of Jean's? Is Marvel going to show Rachel's quest for revenge against the Shi'ar, or is this going to be just another forgotten storyline? Can you imagine someone coming in and wiping out your whole family, just because they existed? If that isn't a call for Dark Phoenix, I don't know what is!:darkphoenix:
