BoredNow why does Jean have to pay the consequences this time.? This is a different time now.
Even in the comic Jean's good side of her nature came out from time to time in the Dark Phoenix storyline. Jean is the one who killed herself in that story because she made a choice to, because she killed over 5 billion lives.

From my understanding their going with Jean's emotional state and powers in this movie.

If it wasn't for John Byrne to add in the panels of Jean as Dark Phoenix taking out 5 billion lives of the vegetable people in the first place. Jean wouldn't had to pay for the consequences in the first place. Jean was a tragic hero. Jean chose to die for her freinds a second time so she wouldn't succumb to her Dark side of her nature. So why wasn't that heroic, or good? Jean staying evil would be bad in my opinion, because she would just kill the X-men, and Xavier or whoever got in her way when she's evil, and wouldn't die. I think Jean should make a choice to die if she is to die, as the tragic hero as she had done in the storyline of Dark phoenix. That's what made that ending great. She was not evil when she died she was heroic.

But a phoenix only does die just to be reborn. So why would that be dumb for Jean to resurrect as a hero in the movies. I actually would think that would be even more clever for the ending of X3, and more interesting.;)
