1) Was there a lot of work involved for Famke? (such as wire work, e.t.c.)

*Famke had an intense amount of acting and stunt work in this film. It was incredibly demanding emotionally and physically.

2) Everyone is saying that Phoenix is going to be an awesome character and such. Is any other character going to be as big?

*Depends what you mean by big. In terms of wrath-of-god-like-powers, the answer is no. In terms of screen-time, the answer is yes.

4) Finally (as probably any fan would ask) is Famke really nice in person?

*She is the best. A genuinely kind person. And shes smart too she studied literature at Columbia University -- a Bond girl with an Ivy League education. Scary.

4) Why was it decided to bring in the cure storyline as well as the Dark Phoenix storyline? I'm not against this, but I wondered why the Dark Phoenix storyline was not sufficient on its own. Is it because the cure storyline affects more mutants, it is more 'expansive', more relatable to real-world science (genetic modification, tampering with nature etc)?

*Interesting question. The Dark Phoenix storyline is the emotional core of our movie. But we all felt the film needed a subplot with more global/political stakes. Thematically, we felt the cure plot could address that need, and dovetail well into the Phoenix Saga (about a mutant losing control). The X-Men films always have a political/philosophical underpinning, and we wanted to continue that tradition. Plus, Zak and I are big fans of Joss Whedons Gifted run.

5) Some fans of Phoenix have said she shouldn't have human motivations and conflicts, that the Phoenix is simply a force that carries the capacity for giving life and destroying it on a dramatic scale, someone who is driven mad simply by the fact she has come back from the dead with uncontrollable god-like powers, and feeling compelled to destroy for no logical reason other than insanity. Personally, I do not agree with this, and believe that giving her realistic, human conflicts and motivations (cause and effect, action and reaction, evil that has a background and trigger factors) is much better. So, how did you approach the idea of Phoenix in X3? What sort of power levels and motivations have you given to her (without spoiling things)?

*This gets dangerously close to spoiler territory. I will say this: I agree with you. But I also love the dramatic scale of the comics. We tried to do what these films have always done stay true to the essence of the books, but make the characters relatable and realistic. When we first sat down, we wanted to find ways to make this omnipotent, intergalactic character feel somewhat human, but also to give her truly wrath-of-god like powers. Hopefully, we got the balance right. Its a tricky one.

If anything (but I'd rather nothing) the sound should be something cosmic and otherworldly; and silent majesty is better than silly distorted deep voices. What do you think, Simon? Is it a 'no' to shrieking birds and demon voices?

*I dont know much about the sound effects yet. Like I said above, we are trying to keep the character somewhat grounded, so Im not sure about shrieking birds and demon voices. I know there will be some cool effect (hopefully otherwordly), but I have no idea what it will be.

Where was it confirmed that there will even be CGI flame bird SFX for Phoenix?

*It wasnt confirmed here. Were still working on this.
