White nightwing is right, evolution was by far the best of all the X-men rep in any media and not just in terms of Jean. It was fresh and unlike the others, it wasn't tied down by forcing itself to fit the long winded comic history or all of those 'conventions' and mandates we've put up with recently. I liked that they made characters portrayals powerful enough that they didn't bore you until they began to use their powers. Not some I can say for WAXM. It was also the only one that gave you a reason to like these characters and their relationships. In many ways, both the movie series and the other cartoon series start you with preset relationships or forced ones that exist while this one built them from scratch and made you like them as they were. We got to see strong, positive versions of each character especially the women who continued to grow rather than be diminshed along the way.

As for Jean, yes she was phenomenal. She had a personality and a complex one at that, which didn't NEED the addition of the Phoenix or Phoenix like powers to make her seem interesting. Although, her upgrade was amazing. She was powerful, a realistic girl who was athletic, independent and girly, and a true heroine. Yeah, she was on par with Scott. That was the only portrayal of the Scott character that I loved and I loved seeing them get together. They were cute and complimented each other. HE wasn't weak or let his hang ups hold her back. I was alittle turned off by their uber-maturity together, though it never got to as annoying as it did in every other version. I should say then that I truly disliked her uber-popularity. Sorry, but this is the one feature of Jean that I can't stand. I'm a Rogue fan so I need that outcast appeal. I liked that they played it in a way that she is popular for simply being who she is and is real enough to resent being considered popular. The moment when Rogue came to that realization about the social circle dilemma between her and Jean was beautiful. I think we could have seen an Emma or Wolvie (though in this one he was far older and a teacher) addition without too much headache. Technically, we saw that with the two people they were dating.

This is all in stark contrast to WAXM, which destroyed almost everything (except for a few characters) including the title character. If it wasn't for the good cameos this would have been the worst show conceived.

FYI, Evo Rogue was the best version of Rogue. TAS made her popular for having Ms. Marvel powers (plus her fiery persona and hotness) and the Bryan Singer Rogue was admittedly very weak, but had nothing to do with Evo Rogue. Unless you consider that Singer never finished the series and was building her up to be like the Evo character who was comfortable with herself and her powers.
