FE, Scott is Scott he'll have issues.

And Jean was created to be a keener in the Evo universe and actually by default in the others as well, but she doesn't play it off as a self depricating Mary Sue character or some uber proud Lisa Simpson character. She is complex and accepts who she is. Also she works at being good and doen't have things handed to her though it looks easy. The fact isn't whether we like it the truth is by comparison she is a bit perfect, which isn't a bad thing. It just identity politics. Who you identify with or what traits you identify with will determine your perception on these characters. I take issue though with needing to explain the opposite, which is why I usually seem to take offence to your post and many others on Jean not being uber-good. I think this self defeating. We have discussions of many other women and yet we don't feel the need to explain that they are complex yet ultimately good or have more villianous tendencies or dark spots. This fuels those who already dislike her since it is defensive. It basically says that she she really isn't interesting and needs to be replaced by an Emma. If they dislike her fine. They pick out what they dislike, but we should appreciate Jean as a powerhouse for good. Also, we've outgrown the good girl bad girl pre-feminist split and while many good girls turn bad or vice versa are big tickets a lot of the newer and many of the older generations (characters and fans) love the true good character who is complex.
