OK, gang, I got a ot of ground to coer in a short time. Some are comments, others are questions. Help if you can.
Questions first, I guess...
Bought the 2 disk X2 ting...wasn't there supposed to be bloopers, especially something to do with Logan and Bobby doing some kind of gay-themed something?
And in the extended/deleted scenes, what the hell does Storm say to Jean in the jet towards the end? I've cranked up the volume on my tv to max, and still can't hear it.
OK, thoughts, comments, etc...
X2...it was nice, but stupid in ways too. Fighter jets avoiding tornados? Riiighttt. Storm is so....bitchy and angry in the movies. And did anyone catch the Oh, My God when the fighter jet fired the missles at them? Naughty naughty.
Colossus..yummy!!
X3-sorry, but I just might be the only person who is NOT wanting to see the Phoenix saga done. Personally, I'm not too fond of this Jean at all. Too wussy. Never felt comfortable with her powers! As if!! But then, I guess they need a driving point for her to go all Dark Phoenix on us. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, yes? Too much at once, she goes whacko in her reveling. All good and everything, but gee, aren't they missing a BIG aspect here? Notice no one in the movies actually FLY? Ok, you technical people, Mags floated in Cerebro, an dthey fly in the Blackbird, but you know what I mean.
X-Treme going bye-bye-thank God. This book has simply lost it's direction. And can't seem to find it anywhere. I know a lot of people love Sotrm, but how much can you rehash and redo her personality? And this forming of the XSE...since when did she get so into Bishop's ideology? I can sort of understand the need to police the younger mutant force that still AREN'T being fully reached by Xavier, but c'mon.
New Excalibur-I'm happy at the thought, but the reality remains to be seen. I do hope it is a lot lighter than the other X-Books...it;s desperately needed.
X-Men in general-I am so SICK of all the dark @#%$. Pardon my language. Why don't they simply start piling the bodies of the X-men on a giant spear and be done with it. It's gotten so depressing. Now that Jean;s out of the Phoenix egg, hand it over to me. I could use the darkness and quiet to get away from all this dark future crap. I'm starting to agree with the poster to Newsarama...Rehashed is what this event needs to be called.
Rachel-Hee hee hee. Here's where I lose a lot of you. Please let me try to explain Rachel's character...or lack of it.
Yes, Ray started off as a replacement for Jean. A very weak one at that. Even I didn't like her in Uncanny back in the day. Then along came Excalibur. Here she is, a little older, in better shape, and god forbid...more secure in her powers and self. Well, self to a degree. She still had a lot to work out, but towards the end there, she was growing. For the better. She had her own definite personality, thoughts, ideas, dreams. Then she got limbo'd. And then royally screwed with. I think what people really don't get, especially thos who have written her since she left Excal is this...and it's my big question of all time-How could the phoenix have left her (first mentioned in the Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix as she guessed from her older age, I think she would have been in her 60's when it left her, if memory serves...she said 20 years earlier, and she seemed to be in her 80's, second, after that whole universe was retconned, it left her while in the timestream and it saw 1000 years or so of darness surrounding the earth, it left to investigate) when it had already left her BEFORE she even went into the time stream? I guess everyone totally decided to retcon what Alan Davis established....the force left her to find it's own path, but only left her with small access to it's powers. Rachel ceased being Phoenix in fact around Excalibur 100. When she returned from space, she was still Phoenix in name and limited power, but she was mostly just Rachel Summers, and was trying to wrap uo her past and begin her future. She is very much a permanant part of Earth 616, and should stay. As for her coming back as a super hero, there's no reason why she couldn't. And she can still have some Phoenix powers. Why not? All Phoenix really did for her was beef up her TK and telepathy. Even if she can't have that, she still has 3 powers at her disposal. Her tk and tp may be more diluted now, but hey, there's definately room for improvement and growth. As for a new name...how about Esper? It IS what she is, after all. (Esper is a person with psionic abilities...think ESP) Jean accepted both Rachel and Cable as her children. There shouldn't be any issue on that. All that stuff was dealt with. So what's the prob?
I'm sorry there are some people out there who don't like her. Or understand her. I wish I could say something that would help people to be able to understand her more. Unfortunately, they've screwed her up so often, I can't comfortably do that. Which is why I feel she deserves her chance to shine as her own self. Without the doubts from the past, or the crap from the future.
By the way...great comparison of her and Jean to Donna and Diana. They fu---I mean, screwed Donna over badly, too. Well, the death thing. She WAS more than just Wonder Woman Lite once you got to know her. Donna had, and I believe still does have, a large following. I liked how Jiminez got her back to being Diana's sister, and honestly, I don't feel he really took anything away from her with how he did it. But, as this is a Marvel based board, I won't go into DC. lol. Though if anyone wants to talk about Diana and Donna with me, I'd be more than willing. Email me off list at Mykle1616@aol.com. Ditto for more info on Rachel.
I think that's all I have to say for now. Missed ya'll, sorry I haven't posted lately. Take care, have a wonderful day!!
