This festival celebrates the life of an ancient Jain teacher who had reached enlightenment. Bahubali was said to have achieved enlightenment while meditating in the forest.
This celebration only happens every 12 years.

We've talked about this before, but Mike and I met some Jains who live in our area of eastern KY and was able to go to a Diwali celebration in 2003. Diwali is an annual religious celebration for Hindus, Jains, and Sikhs.
