Come on guys, JoshuaChayne and I cannot be the only ones on here who are fans of this program and it's host Amy Goodman.
Democracy Now! is a radio/tv news and analysis program. It is hosted by Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez.
Amy Goodman advocates for " a grass roots, international, unembedded, independant" news media as an alternative to the corporate media.
The program is from the perspective of the far left. Amy Goodman's view of journalism is one that should always question those in power, and especially in times of war.
What I like about the program is that often you hear stories that you do not hear about from the US corporate sponsored media.
From the website:
Democracy Now! is a national, daily, independent, award-winning news program airing on over 350 stations in North America. Pioneering the largest public media collaboration in the U.S., Democracy Now! is broadcast on Pacifica, NPR, community, and college radio stations; on public access, PBS, satellite television (DISH network: Free Speech TV ch. 9415 and Link TV ch. 9410; DIRECTV: Link TV ch. 375); as a "podcast," and on the internet.
Amy Goodman along with Allan Nairn survived the East Timor massacre back in 1991. At that time the area was being occupied by Indonesia. They told the story in form of a documentary, Massacre: The Story of East Timor.

The program does encourage activism, as the show frequentely talks to peace activists. The show also talks to academics, scholars, and artists about world issues.
A story from today's program:
Iraqi Journalist Ali Fadhil Describes Arrest by U.S. Forces: "They Used Explosives and Shot Inside My Home"
Amy Goodman is also author of a book called The Exception to the Rulers. I have not read the book and probably will not. It's more aimed for the general public and from what I've read it doesn't sound very academic (I'd classify it along the lines of a Michael Moore book).

Anyone else watch or listen to the program? Any fans?
