Supposedly, Simon Kinberg (one of the writers of X3) did a Q&A session without giving away direct spoilers on the X-Verse Forums.
I can't say absolutely that it's really him but so far it seems legit and the Administrators there are saying its him, so I will post the Jean comments and a link....

I think the most-challenging character is Jean/Phoenix, because shes essentially schizophrenic. The interplay between her id and ego needed to be carefully crafted, so the audience will understand the transition between the Jean we love and the Phoenix we fear.

the Phoenix Saga is one of the most powerful story-arcs in comic history. We really strived to infuse the film with that level of emotion and drama. This is a film in which characters make huge sacrifices. If the audience isnt deeply moved by the climax of our story, then we will have failed as filmmakers.

There are lots of dramatic scenes in X3. Theres a great scene between Xavier and Wolverine. And some very strong scenes with Magneto. The same goes for Beast, Storm, and others. But I would have to say the most dramatic scenes are with Jean/Phoenix. Her character is the emotional engine of the movie, so her scenes are the most heated. A couple of her scenes can literally make me cry. I hope they do the same for you

I have no idea how long the film will run. Theyre still editing, so the length will change over the span of the next few months. I know it seems like there are lots of storylines, but there are really only two main plots the Dark Phoenix Saga, and a political/military plot.

I have lots of favorite scenes. One of my favorite scenes is the one where Jean wakes up in the infirmary with Logan. Zak Penn and I really worked as a team on this film, so the scenes are ours together. All of my favorite scenes are ones with Jean/Phoenix. I think they're as emotional and charged and dangerous as anything we've seen in the previous X-Men movies.

Im a huge Famke fan too. Yes, Jean is seriously badass. Seriously. I cant say much more, but Phoenix will not disappoint. The effects are going to be mind-blowing, unlike anything youve ever seen. More importantly, Famke is stunning in the role. She was born to play this character. Nothing youve ever seen of her work can prepare you for her performance in this film.

7) Did you use any fan fiction as inspiration to write X3?
We used the comics, first and foremost. Zak and I are total geeks, so we surf boards constantly, and we used some of the fan art as inspiration (especially with Phoenix).
