Because I don't take that as a statement of objective fact. Your reading of PHOENIX: ENGSONG is very different from mine; as far as I can tell, the Jean in that was, in essence, a zombie shell inhabited by the Phoenix Force. And while there's certainly some aspect of Jean still within that forcfe, that's not quite the same thing as being actually alive in a conventional sense.
Seriously is this guy for real?..........

@Zed: I think most of us in this forum has never written to Brevoort. It's possible none of us actually has. We're not all of Jean Grey's fans, though...
@all: I think we should just ignore whatever he says. The bigger the absurd of his statements/opinions, the bigger the reaction he gets. He's probably feeling very important and powerful now. I'd say he's having the time of his life with all this attention... It's sad actually.Yes, most of what he's said about Jean and her fans is outrageous and disrespectful. I'm not (that) crazy to think otherwise. But seriously: I urge you not to play this game. Can't you see it's a game we cannot win? Set your own rules and don't let him or anyone from Marvel get to you.Understand this: they need us. We don't need them. Then, reclaim your power in this relationship.

No matter how he answers the questions, Marvel has decided for now to keep her dead.I think arguing with him like this tarnishes respect for the character. Have you ever thought arguing with him like this could make editorial dig in the hills and ignore everything from Jean fans about bringing her back, and keep her dead even longer just out of spite?

Has this been a consistent view expressed by the editorial staff at Marvel? I could have sworn I remember them making a comment sometime after End Song about the Phoenix appearing in the series being Jean. Perhaps someone else with more patience than I have will be able to locate the quote.
